We’re taking our Lift Lock to the UK’s Lift show.
The UK’s last trade show dedicated to the lifts and elevator sector took place in 2022. We exhibited at that event at London’s ExCeL centre and took along our Type Approved Lift Lock (TALL). TALL was hot off the press back then and featured at the centre of our display, complete with the evaluation kit for prospective customers. It did attract interest – in some cases from other exhibitors. In fact, some of our customers also exhibit at LIFTEX, which is another reason for us to embrace the event.
Three years on and LIFTEX has returned; this time less impeded by the legacy of Covid, so we’re looking forward to an exciting event.
We will be taking TALL with us again and prioritising it as the product that’s right for the industry. We know it’s right because we designed it to be so. Based on the proven mechanism in our immensely popular industrial electric bolt lock (EBL-I), TALL is more compact. We built it into a smaller envelope to fit existing lift infrastructure, such that lift manufacturers can deploy the lock without needing to modify any lift framework. The TALL enclosure measures just 36mm x 68mm x 190mm.
Our lift expertise stems not only from our unmatched experience in solenoid actuators and industry-proven products like the EBL-I, but also from a successful range of secure electric locking systems that we manufacture for DDA platform lifts. These are the lifts you’ll find in retail premises that provide disabled access to upper floors or bypass stairs. They must adhere to the standards outlined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. Our platform lift locks fully satisfy the stringent requirements of the EN81-41-43 Machinery Directive.
For passenger lifts, the standard defined by the 2014/33/EU Lifts Directive is more rigorous, as these lifts travel faster and carry more people. So we designed TALL to comply with that directive. Among the features that the Lifts Directive demands is a covered enclosure for the actuator (so we built TALL with a tough 3D-printed carbon fibre reinforced nylon envelope) and that the mechanism must be visible, so we added an inspection window. TALL also features two integrated bolt position switches and a safety manual override via a triangular key.
Type Approved Lift Lock evaluation kits are available to lift manufacturers who wish to appraise this special-purpose lock.
Keeping with the flexibility for which Magnet Schultz is famous, we can easily customise the TALL design to provide different features, like alternate bolt lengths and options, to suit the needs of any customer.
You can see us and TALL at LIFTEX on 11th and 12th June at London’s ExCel exhibition centre. We will be exhibiting on Stand C0.
